Job Profile for the Youth Pastor
The primary goals of the church– Grace Bible Church exists to bring glory to God. This is accomplished by continuing the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is accomplished by evangelizing the lost (Matt 28:18-20), and equipping the Body of Christ to do the work of ministry (Eph 4:7-16).

The scope and objective of the youth program– The scope of the youth ministry entails the Youth Group, Sunday School, and Children’s Church. The Youth Pastor’s objective is to teach the Word with the goals of mind renewal (Rom 12:1-2), spiritual gift discovery and implementation (Rom 12:3-8; 1 Cor 12-14) while cultivating a love for one another with the aim of leading others to life in Christ (John 13:34-35). All of this is a directive toward effective discipleship.
The description of the position– The Youth Pastor has the authority to carry out the position objectives with the best means available, while maintaining his responsibilities as listed below.
The responsibilities related to the position– The Youth Pastor’s responsibilities include:
▪Coordinating a comprehensive, long-range youth education program;
▪Communicating the discipleship objectives to the church and the Elder Ministry Team;
▪Giving supervisory leadership and training to volunteer workers;
▪Fostering personal contact between leaders and youth;
▪Determining needs and setting objectives for the youth program;
▪Developing a wholesome philosophy for a balanced program of fellowship activities;
▪Correlating the activities of any (future) youth functions of the church;
▪Keeping up with contemporary thought by reading and attending youth ministry
conferences, etc.
▪Teaching in all phases of the Youth Ministry to deepen the spiritual life of the youth;
▪Discipling young people as potential leaders for the church, community, and the world;
▪Conferring with the Senior Pastor on all phases of the work;
▪Preparing and overseeing Youth Ministry budget and expenditures.
The responsibilities in relation to the Senior Pastor– The Youth Pastor will report directly to the Senior Pastor and will be considered as a co-laborer with him among the flock. They will meet weekly to review the past week’s opportunities, developing plans for the future, and for mutual encouragement and prayer. The Youth Pastor will assist in the ministerial responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
The responsibilities related to the Board of Elders– The Youth Pastor will provide the Board of Elders with monthly reviews, summarizing his work with the Children’s Sunday School, Youth Group, and Children’s Church. At least yearly, he will discuss his educational strategy, the curriculum design, youth worker training programs, the major events planned for the year, and the youth ministry budget needs.
The requirements for the position – The Youth Pastor must be a capable expositor of the Word of God and must enjoy spending time with all ages up to senior in college. He must meet the qualifications of a biblical elder (1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9), and must discharge his responsibilities in the manner described in Titus 1:10-11 and 1 Peter 5:1-1-4. This includes:
▪Confessing Jesus Christ as Savior and seeking to submit to His lordship in your life.
▪Being committed to the authority, inerrancy, and infallibility of Scripture.
▪Modeling a lifestyle of obedience to Christ with integrity.
▪Sharing with others a clear testimony of Christian faith.
▪Having a consistent and disciplined devotional life in worship, prayer, Bible study, and
reflection.
Additionally desired skills and abilities (not a position requirement)
▪Musical abilities instrumental and/or vocal.
▪Ability to lead or assist with a music ministry.
▪Skills in evangelism. Being able to effectively evangelize the community not just youth.
▪Strong skills in administrative duties.
The financial and educational commitment of Grace Bible Church to the Youth Pastor– The salary of the Youth Pastor will be determined by the Elder Ministry Team, taking into account the cost of living and the responsibility of the position. This will be reviewed annually. Vacation time will be determined by the Elder Ministry Team. Attending conferences that further the Youth Pastor’s education and skill are encouraged and will be funded by the church pending the approval of the Elder Ministry Team. The Youth Pastor is also encouraged to continue his education at a school that holds the same foundational tenets and doctrines as Grace Bible Church. The church provides $800.00 a year to aid in professional development.
